What changed for Android administrators?
The October release uses the single 2026-10-01 security patch level, rather than the two-part pattern used in recent years. Inventory and compliance rules should therefore look for that exact patch level, while allowing for vendor rollout delays. Pixel devices additionally received fixes for six vulnerabilities, including three critical issues affecting Bluetooth, GDMC, and GSA. Android Automotive OS includes the Android fixes plus five additional high-severity EoP fixes.
For organizations using MDM, the immediate question is not whether every phone updates tonight. Confirm which managed models are eligible, whether OEMs have published their corresponding builds, and whether staff handle regulated data, privileged accounts, VPN access, or production administration from Android. Those groups should be in the first deployment wave.
